Jakes Gerwel Fellowship is a dedicated university scholarship who looks for the very best , smartest and incredible students who are passionate about education to join this growing community. A large number of JGF students are already Gold Key members and we would love to see this number grow. Angel Ancha Lindelwa Bulunga was born and raised in the Kingdom of Eswatini. She is a Rhodes university alumna, an Allan Gray Fellow and Mandela Rhodes Scholar (2017). She is currently a Programme Officer at the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship, an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Endowment Teaching Initiative, where she has the honor of providing coaching and leadership development to top learners with a passion for teaching and education. Carla Watson (she/her) a former high school English teacher was recognised through the prestigious award from the Mail & Guardian Young 200 South Africans for her contribution in Education in South Africa (2019). She was further awarded as one of 50 most Powerful Women in South Africa (Mail & Guardian, 2020) She is part of the founding team of the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship (Allan Gray Orbis Endowment), a scholarship designed to develop young people into expert high school teachers, educational leaders and social entrepreneurs across the country.
