George had an interest in computers from a very young age and undertook a Mathematics/Computer Science undergraduate degree at Swinburne as his first step toward a career in IT. His first job was as a software developer at a multi-national food and beverage organisation, where within 18 months of commencing, and at just 23 years of age, was given responsibility for leading his own team of IT professionals. This set him on a career long path of leading IT teams that he has followed ever since. Highlights within his CV include spearheading the $25m upgrade of information systems supporting Victoria’s Smart Meter program and the rollout of a Human Capital Management program for a global health insurance organisation. He also had a 10-year stint of running his own IT consultancy, which became a leading provider of recruitment solutions throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Being true to one of his tenets, “always teach and always learn”, George recently returned to Swinburne University and undertook a Master of Project Management, which included completion of a research thesis; “Is Agile Scrum Improving IT Project Outcomes?”. In his private time, George is an avid cyclist and cycles around 350km/week. In 2017 he rode his bike from Melbourne to Cairns in just 14 days.
