From Japan, T. Daniel Arisawa has taught linguistics at local universities in northern Thailand for over a decade while studying Iu Mien for nearly thirty years. He wrote a grammar of Iu Mien, earning a Ph.D. from the Centre for Research on Language Diversity at La Trobe University. He currently serves as a Senior Consultant to the Iu Mien Mother Language Preservation and Development Centre.
